Packaging Future Of Russia: General Overview To 2015
Russia is still one of the prominent hopes for lucky investments and one of the most mysterious countries to enter. It’s territory is huge – no one to compare with, it’s population is quite big and famous for perfect education and culture. It’s natural resources seems endless, environment mostly is virgin. At the same time democracy seems to live a rather strange life in this country, the living standard is pretty poor, population trend is to decrease (in 2050 it may be only 101 million, instead of 147 million in 2003). Packaging business is growing quite rapidly, in some areas up to 20 percent per year, but the glimpse on Russian packed goods space leave impression of something extremely motley. So, which country is Russia today and which country we expect to see in the next ten years? Can we believe that this state will manage to double its GDP in 2010? Is it truth that business in Russia is predominantly framed by integrated business groups? May we consider Russian business in packaging competitive enough in some near future? The overview was presented by Dr. Andrey Zagorsky, who was doing private business in packaging since 1990 and, since 2003, is the chairman of the board of Russian national packaging association.
