Participation in the exhibition “ROSUPAK 2010” and in the contest “Grand- Star Russia 2010”

As you know, “ROSUPAK” is the most large-scale exhibition of packaging equipment, packing, packaging technologies and materials in Russia and Eastern Europe. In this year the exhibition jubilated the 15th anniversary on the one of the international largest exhibition center “Crocus Expo”, Moscow.

Among the oldest and the largest members of the show there are EKOTEK group and VARIOPAK company. The booth of the size of 54 sq.m. equip by numerous vitrines with packaging products and materials was situated in advantageous place, exactly nearby the entrance to the 3rd hall.

Besides the wide exposition of polygraph and polymer production (label production; seals, ring cardboard labels; aluminium neckfoils; in-mould labels; LLDPE stretch film; heat-shrinking LDPE film; polymer holders for multiple package etc.), the booth had an innovation feature – a ground for professional demo-workshops. The timetable of the workshops was announced in the exhibition catalog as well in the web-site and also was mailed to concerned visitors of the show. So, the booth played dual role – introducing the wide range of products to the visitors and also telling about main features and properties of different production kinds via reports and presentations of speakers.

Our managers, who worked on the booth, noted that in this year the exhibition was more populous and visitors were more active and took more interest to packaging production.

The leadership of our companies also marked presence of positive trends in packaging market based on participation on different discussions during opening of the exhibition as well as “round tables” devoted to the main problems of packaging sphere.

One of the most interesting events of the show was awarding of the winners of All-Russian contest on the best packing “Grand-Star Russia 2010”.

Printing-house “Ekotek-plus” and “Variopak” company were also among the winner of the contest.

Printing-house “Ekotek-plus” took a prize for the series of layer card cartons for preserves. Besides of typographic and product marketing roles such layer card cartons act as counterfeit protection and protect a can from dust and dirt unavoidable during transportation.

“Variopak” company took a prize for special cast LLDPE 5-layer stretch film for storage of urban ore, ECOPAK. Such film provides very high barrier for oxygen penetration and thereby delays the rot processes in mixture of urban ore and intromission of the mixture miasmas to atmosphere.

The jury of the 5th National Contest for the best food and drinks package and label “ProdExtraPack-2010” passed as a part of the 17th international exhibition “ProdExpo 2010” has finished its work.
In this year 63 nominations were presented to the jury attention.
Among the winners of the contest is label printing-office “Ekotek plus”. Prize is won for the label series for coffee Jacobs Monarch. (more)

The Fifth International Competition for the best label "GrandEtiquette-2009" is summed up. 105 works from 32 printing offices and design-studios took part in the competition. (more)

New employees have joined the Ekotek group team

In the end of October 2008 the Ekotek group has announced recruitment on a free training programme of sales managers in sphere of packing production, equipment, raw materials for Russian food and printing industries. Training was held in two groups depending on the English knowledge of students. Leading specialists of the Ekotek group delivered lectures three times a week in the evening during the period from the 1st to the 19th of December 2008. A final exam revealed candidates to join the Ekotek group team. As a result six sales managers and commercial manager were employed. While new employees are adoptating and making a close study of company’s business, one more training connected with packing output is preparing for them. Really economic crisis is a very good time for searching and employing highly qualified staff! It’s worth mentioning that personnel’s development and creation of perfect conditions for revealing potential of each member are among the priorities of the group. Special trainings concearning improvement of professional skills and re-qualification are regularly prepared for all staff of the Ekotek group.

The 14th International Packaging Exhibition in Istanbul ”AMBALAJ 2008“

The event took place on October, 23-26, 2008.
Our colleague Margarita Korneva, the Director of Information Center, attended the Exhibition with the delegation of Russian packagers. The program of the visit organized by the Trade Represantation of the Turkish Embassy in Moscow, the Union of Exporters of Istanbul and the Association of the Packaging Manufacturers of Turkey under support of the Russian Trade-Industrial Chamber and National Packaging Confederation of Russia, envisaged the business talks with the companies working at the Turkish Packaging market, and also the participation at the work of exhibition.(more)

The Effective Design - to High Quality Beer

The workshop for the beer and non-alcoholic production, organized by research institute on beer brewing in Berlin – VLB -  where the joint report of the Sales Director of Constantia Haendler & Natermann (Germany) Mr J. Waldraf and the President of EKOTEK Group Profeessor A. L. Zagorsky “The Beverages Design: Label Creates Brand: Modern Trends in Beverage Decoration Development” was presented, took place in S.Petersbourg on September, 15-18, 2008.

The Workshop was orginised for the beer brewing and non-alcoholic beverages industry workers and attracted the great attention on the part of the staff of the departments of technology and quality of Baltika Brewery, Heineken and many other companies. The topics of the Workshop covered the technology of beer brewing, the methods of quality control and also modern approaches to filling, packaging and beverage design.

Special interest was given by the patrticipants of the Workshop to the issues of filling, packaging and design of beverages, stimulated by the high competition at this section of the food products market. The offer is so big that the choice of the customer is made on the basis of how the container with a drink is designed, how attractive, comfortable and functional its package is, to what extent the manufacturer cares of hygienic aspect of the drink cosumption.The company H&N is known for its most interesting solutions in the beverage design - as aluminum foil on the bottle neck, which in addition to its bright decorative function provides the defence from counterfeit, and also by aluminum can lid for the beverage cans  which is unreplaceable for the hygienic defence of the can surface.

The profeesional newspaper of printers and Ekotek Group have been at good terms for quite a long time. We often provided this newspaper with the current information and in the issue N14 of this year – September 24,2008 - everybody interested in the news of the packaging industry in Russia can read the interview given to the newspaper by the President of Ekotek Group Andrey L. Zagorskiy.

The interview has the title “On the current problems of the packaging business” and covers the issues like: strengthening of positions of the National Packaging Confederation of Russia in the World Packaging Organization, the foundation of the National Institute of Packaging and Logistics (NIUL), thoughts on the barriers in the way of steady development of packaging business for the future, and also the Letter to Mr. V.V. Putin and Mrs. V. I. Matviyenko with the appeal to react to the application of the Russian businessmen to initiate the process of putting forward the issue on the urgent changes in the customs regulations for the goods from the Ukraine which are delivered into the territory of the Russian Federation.

World Packaging Organisation President's Award winners announced and 130 WorldStar winners honoured in Rosemont, Chicago, USA

The WorldStar winners from the competition 2006 were honoured at an award ceremony in Rosemont. Chicago May 15 lh. 2007. In total, the WorldStar 2006 competition attracted 264 entries from 35 countries. Out of these 130 were selected as WorldStar 2006 winners during the jury meeting held in Poznan, Poland in November 2006. (more)

Joint meeting of National confederacy of packagers

In January, 29 joint meeting of packaging industry development Subcommittee of Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and recently created National confederacy of packagers will take place in Moscow in the building of Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Participants of the meeting will have an opportunity to get acquainted with the program for 2007 of these organizations. The next and important point of the meeting will broach an issue of possibilities and ways of mutually profitable cooperation of all associations of enterprises and businessmen dealing with packaging. Dr. Zagorskiy will present the program of National confederacy of packagers.

Autumn Career Day in SPbSU at the faculty of management

«Modern packaging and packaging solutions» lectures at Saint-Petersburg State University.

Since September 2006 with the co-operation and active support of Ekotek Group the curriculum of faculty of management contains «Modern packaging and packaging solutions» course. It happened for the first time in the practice of business education in Russia. The course includes essential information about logistics of modern packaging solutions because packaging and logistics are not separated from each other nowadays.

Dr. Andrey Zagorsky, president of Ekotek Group, will give the course to future leaders of Russian business.

The course is aimed not only to introduce to students the basis of packaging business but to teach future managers to decide about packaging creation and usage of it competently and to orientate in up-to-date packaging achievements and logistics progress.

Excursion to "Baltika Breweries"

On July , 21 the group of our personnel visited “Baltika Breweries” (SPb). Our specialists got acquainted with the whole cycle of beer production from malt brewing to finished products storage and dispatch.

Production capacities of the plant struck even experienced specialists.

Russian government approved rules for alcohol drinks packing

Russian government approved requirements for alcohol drinks packing to provide evidence of tempering visually. Mikhail Fradkov Prime minister of Russian Federation signed a resolution concerning it. (Russian Government Resolution ¹ 822 December 28, 2005).
Sealing for alcohol drinks (closures, caps, capsules, metal packing (muzzles), crowncaps and others) must provide evidence of tempering by means of one of the following methods – breaking (tear), deformation or defection of integrity of a sealed product.

Ekotek-Plus Ltd. was certificated according to GOST R ISO 9001-2001

Quality systems certification body "Test-St.Petersburg Co. Ltd." carried out an audit of Ekotek-Plus Ltd. quality management system on the 27th of December 2005. The commission has concluded that Ekotek-Plus Ltd. quality management system complies with the requirements of GOST R ISO 9001-2001.
Thus, Ekotek-Plus Ltd. was certificated for three years period "applying to development and manufacture of labels and promotional polygraphic materials of paper and cardboard".

Series of labels for non-alcoholic drink DEVON and "SEVER-ALKO" were awarded in a category "ideas, designing and graphic arts quality of labels" during the competition "Packaging – purchase criteria". The competition was carried out within an annual international specialized exhibition "UPEM – modern packaging, labeling and marking – 2005"
